Borrowed Sorrow From Tomorrow
a video poem by C C Keaton
When someone we love is suffering
Through pain, loss; under grief’s unbearably dark covering
No words can quite console
That cavernous hole in their soul
We’ve all been there before
With some news that rocks you to the core, shouting bitterly, “No more!”
Or…
“What’s this all for?!?!?”
To be of any solace to hearts so sore
We should first grieve with them; weep and mourn
Then hug, hold, cradle…absorb
And keep silent, but listen loudly
Hear each precious sob sourly
The cries and moans that shake to the floor; allow all tears to unabashedly pour
And pray; before during and after
Keep on loving and blessing til the bitter turns to laughter
However much time it may take
Love suffers long and is never late
So borrow some sorrow from tomorrow
After blessings it just seems to follow…
“He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.”
2 Corinthians 1:4 NLT
