Another Autumn
Has opened its page
Sweeping in winds of change
Wisping yesterday’s cares away
Can’t you feel it lifting the haze
Ushering in crisp new days
Urging us to clear the stage
Stretch clean canvas to lay
Open God’s Word, let’s engage!
Jesus desires to spend time with us today! (and everyday!)
There’s new life in all He has to say
And power when, then, we pray!
Along with leaves’ deepening color sway
A fresh perspective lens gives way
Helping our hearts to rearrange
Allowing others needs to upstage
Our precious time as we exchange
Vain earthly desires for Heaven’s glorious rays!
The deeper we search the Bible’s claims
The promises and the mysteries it contains
We experience real and lasting change
As the living Word renews our brains
And breaks sin’s suffocating chains
And the more we purposely graze
The less we’ll complain, or be afraid or feel drained
All our hurts, fears, pains
Only Jesus can assuage
We war against evil with praise!
Faith, truth, hope, love, the weapons waged
So, welcome Autumn’s cool embrace
Regardless the change it may display
And help us Lord, we need Your grace
To see with spiritual eyes Jesus’ face
In every person, in every place
And as we love in Your name
Make us brave and Your Kingdom great!
