Life Above
a poetic perspective persuasion

When we need to breathe
We lift our heads above
When troubles won’t leave
Or be dismissed with a shove
We can choose to respond like doves
With gentle, peace seeking, higher love
Choosing to lift our view up higher
Opens doors to elevated floors
Opportunities we would not otherwise acquire
With benefits we simply can’t ignore
Like joy, hope, peace, inspiration and more
Choosing a life above restores!
For if we live solely horizontal
Trying to suck out meaning
From appetites, pleasures, power, the bottle?
All we’ll get is unfulfilled dreaming, endless scheming and sometimes even screaming
We must soar upwards full throttle
Fight against our flesh, not coddle
When we decide instead to rise
Above the clatter, chatter, this chaotic, toxic societal batter
And pray for God to lift the scales from our eyes
Help us to see Jesus is the ultimate prize!
Opening our hearts and minds to Heavenly matters
Breaks all glass ceilings until shattered!
So let’s make every effort to raise ourselves
High above the worries of this world
As the Bible clearly foretells
And as Holy Spirit compels
Us to shine this dazzling perspective impearled
To display His Kingdom now unfurled!
