Life is a race
But not a competition
Its a test
But not solely of one’s own volition
It’s about knowing, not ambition
We all start out in a perfect, yet flawed condition
As we grow and learn, we yearn for purpose and mission
What will become our definition
Depends on our will’s submission
Some of us are bent on tradition
Others live for applause and recognition
While others gain their position
By standing in rebellious opposition
Despite a nagging intuition
Might I suggest a bold proposition
Lets throw off fearful inhibitions
Say goodbye to all suspicions
Be honest, and where we were wrong, make admission
Be kind, forgive each others commissions
Make being lovely and loving our predisposition
And if we’re to make any petition
Make sure to use Heavenly ammunition
Pray, worship, read the Word, in faithful repetition
Pursue God until his fullness in us comes to complete fruition
That’s how we train to win this thing called life in all its glorious exposition!

So, in honor of the 2024 Olympic Games starting tomorrow in Paris I thought I’d write a short poem to remind us of the real life race we run every day as followers of Jesus. Its a race that we run but Jesus is the Author and Perfecter of that race! Its always God and us in co-production, so take the devil off your speed-dial, so to say, lol. Hope you all enjoy the upcoming games, we sure love to watch amazing and beautiful talent in fellow humans. Shalom!
