What are we chasing after?

Will it bring tears or laughter?

What we put on our life’s platter

Are the only things that will ever matter

Will we choose things that decay, break, shatter?

Or will we treasure what remains into the hereafter 

What makes your heart beat faster?

Power, wealth, appetites, various attractors

Or will faith, hope and love prove vaster

Over what feels best or flatters

We can only serve one of two masters

So let’s consider all the factors

Before our lives end in disaster

This is not just poetic banter

So let’s not let pain, greed or pride be our captors

In all things let’s let love be the deciding factor
